You like to pose in front of the mirror and you fill your Instagram page with glamor shots and selfies. But, do you have what it takes to be a model? If you dream of becoming the next Tyra Banks or Kate Moss, here are some of the traits that you must have:
1. You have to be good looking.
This is a must. Although makeup can temporarily cover your eye bags and blemishes, it can only do so much. So, if you want to be a model, you must have a symmetrical face and good bone structure. You must also have good skin. A lot of aspiring models go under the knife to achieve the perfect look. If you have crooked teeth, you may have to consider surgery. If you don’t look perfect, don’t worry. The standard of beauty is not as unrealistic as it was decades ago. A lot of agencies are now hiring cross-eyed models, plus-sized models, and transgender models.
2. You have to be photogenic.
You have to look good in photos. So, you must know your angles. To do this, take a lot of selfies to determine which angle you look best. Also, take the time to practice some poses in front of the mirror.
3. Take care of your body.
The worst thing about becoming a model is that you cannot eat everything you want. You can’t eat burgers, fries, and different kinds of pastries. If you’re serious about becoming a successful model, you must take care of your body and exercise regularly. You must also watch what you eat. Avoid eating white bread and pasta, and stick to fruits and vegetables. Models are known for wild parties, but if you want to keep your figure perfect, you must avoid beer and other alcoholic beverages.
4. Get signed.
If you want to be a supermodel, you have to be willing to move to another city. Adriana Lima and Giselle Bundchen moved to the US from Brazil to get bigger modeling jobs. If you want to increase your exposure, it’s a good idea to move to a big city like Los Angeles, New York, London, or even Paris. Also, send your application and photos to big modeling agencies like the Elite Model Management or IMG models.
5. Do not be a diva.
Supermodels are known as divas. But, if you want to become one, you must avoid being a diva. You must be on time all the time, and you must be willing to take directions. You must also avoid going to parties a day before a major modeling job.
