Many people think that being an actor is a walk in the park. The truth is, becoming a popular actor is not as easy as 1-2- 3. In fact, some actors spent years of preparatory training at the most prestigious drama schools all over the world.
Step 1: Psyche Yourself Up
It’s not a secret that acting is a pathway to fame and fortune. Hollywood stars are paid thousands (if not millions) of dollars to appear in a TV show or a movie. They get to travel around the world and attend the most fabulous events. But, being an actor is not all glitz and glamor. Getting to celebrity status is not easy. You must be willing to accept several rejections before you get that one big break. If you really want to be a successful actor, you have to psych yourself up and prepare for bigger challenges. Also, you have
to be prepared to lose your privacy.
Step 2: Take Acting Classes
Not a lot of people are born to act. If you want to have an edge, it’s a good idea to take acting classes. This will help you learn various acting techniques. It will also help improve your confidence and overcome your shyness. It will also help you internalize each character you portray. Aside from taking acting classes, it is also important to take care of yourself and your appearance. Take care of your hair, teeth, and skin. Eat the right types of food, and exercise at least thirty minutes every day.
Step 3: Attend Acting Summer Camps or Workshops
Aside from taking formal acting classes, it’s also important to attend acting workshops and summer camps. These workshops will keep you on top of your game and ahead of other actors. Attending a summer camp is also a great way to network with other actors and learn from them.
Step 4: Move to the Big City.
Sometimes, you need to move to another city to fulfill your dreams of becoming an actor. If you really want to be a celebrity, it’s best to move to Los Angeles, California because that’s where the top agents and film producers are.
Step 5: Get a Good Agent
Not all agents are the same. Some are way better than others. If you want to make it big in Hollywood, you have to get a good agent. To do this, you have to join industry organizations like Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television, and Radio Artists (ACTRA), or the American Guild of Variety Artists. These organizations have a list of the best agents in the industry.
